German 8 day oak wallclock with hour and half hour strike on spiral gong.

Details: This is an 8 day oak cased wallclock sold originally by Cameron Cuss and co.
The case is in good condition and houses an 8 day HAC strike movement fully restored and in full working order.The dial has been well polished over the years but is still very much at home in this clock.

HAC Hamburg American company.

This is a German clock making company also known as HAU from the German Hamberg Amerikansishe Ubrenfabrik.

Erhand Junghans, founder of the famous Junghans factory died in 1876. His widows son, Paul Landenburger who had worked at Junghans for several years started a company with Philipp Lang called Landenburger and Lang Uhrenfabrik. Its trademark was a steamship with the words “In God We Trust”.

They produced clock movements, dials, clock parts and cases for all types of clocks, which they sold to the trade.
They changed their company name to Hamburg Amerikanishe Uhrenfabrik and Hamburg American Clock Company in 1883.The-crossed arrows became their trademark in 1892 at which time they started to export finished clocks to Great Britain and North America.

In 1926 the company went into a co-operative with Junghans and they finally merged in 1930.
